About the Programme

MDG's Vocational Training programme provides practical digital fabrication skills for young Balinese who want to build careers in the creative economy — from product design and manufacturing to digital entrepreneurship.

The programme is designed to be accessible: held in the evenings and on weekends, taught in Indonesian and Balinese, and with scholarships available for participants who cannot afford course fees.

What You'll Learn

Module 1: Digital Design Fundamentals

  • Computer-aided design (CAD) basics
  • 2D design with Inkscape and Illustrator
  • Product design principles

Module 2: Fabrication Skills

  • Laser cutting and engraving
  • 3D printing and rapid prototyping
  • Vinyl cutting and applied graphics

Module 3: Electronics & Making

  • Introduction to electronics and microcontrollers
  • Building functional products with sensors and actuators
  • Basic programming with Arduino

Module 4: Business & Entrepreneurship

  • Product development and prototyping
  • Pricing, costing, and business basics
  • Online selling and marketing for makers
  • Connecting to local and global markets

Outcomes

Graduates receive:

  • A vocational certificate in Digital Fabrication from MDG
  • Portfolio of products made during the programme
  • Access to Fab Lab Bali equipment for ongoing projects
  • Connection to MDG's network of clients and collaborators

Scholarship & Support

We offer full and partial scholarships for young Balinese participants. Priority given to women, those from economically marginalised backgrounds, and applicants with strong motivation to build maker-based livelihoods.
